ontram Functions

Worflow in process chain

The start and end of the ontram workflow in the process chain, the project-specific workflow steps and the associated responsibilities and roles can be defined individually. ontram fully adapts itself to your processes.

Translation tasks are unequivocally assigned to your processors, which avoids any unclear status information. The system automatically compares the actual and target situation. In the event of deviations, ontram initiates previously defined escalation steps.

ontram as web service

ontram can be integrated in the operations as an intelligent web service, for instance based on SOAP or CORBA if allowed by existing system structures.

As soon as it is established that the contents have to be processed, they are automatically transferred to ontram and translated and reviewed with the aid of ontram and then transferred back automatically.

Advantages of the Translation Memory

If the same or a similar text has already been translated, ontram recognises this automatically and provides the translator with the available translations. If the translation is a 100% match of the text, the text can be copied after a short verification. Any deviations are shown so that the necessary changes can be made.

In addition to a reduction of the project costs, it also leads to a standardisation of the translation style and considerably reduces subsequent review costs.

Quality Assurance

In order to comply with quality guidelines in form and in content, ontram supports its users with a multitude of useful functions. For instance the length of texts is continuously or before delivery verified in order to ensure that all texts have indeed been translated.

Preview Function

If text layout/illustrations are important, ontram offers users the possibility to view the actual processing status in the final layout.

Depending on the output format, a PDF document or a file in the source format are generated or a preview of the target system is initiated. So ontram offers a wysiwyg layout preview function.

System Connection

Content Management Systems (CMS), e-Learning systems, Editing Systems, Databases, PIM's and ERP's manage large text volumes. The interfaces made available by ontram enable their connection to an efficient cross-system translation process. The interfaces support the exchange of content data and workflow information. The savings potential compared to traditional translation processes is enormous.

Spell Check

The integrated spell checker in ontram, which can also be connected to a glossary, is available in more than 30 languages.

Glossary

The glossary database proposes certain translations for individual words and sentences to the user, so that a consistent use of technical terms, trade names and current expressions is ensured.

Unicode

ontram bases itself in general on the Unicode character set (UTF-8) and can process any language, including right-to-left layouts without any problem.

Deadline management

The module for deadline management integrated in ontram and associated with the workflow engine informs the user of the project progress and simultaneously carries out a comparison of the actual and target situation. The email-based escalation system and clear evaluation possibilities enable timely action if there are any deviations from the project plan. Additional interfaces also allow a comparison with external systems.

Content filter function

ontram offers users a process-optimised filter to present a need-based content. The filter “only changed text” for instance shows the contents in which a change took place during the last workflow step.

Change Management

The change management function documents and shows in detail which content changes were carried out by whom and when. In addition to the long-term documentation, this function offers a clear and distinct transparency of the review processes.

Status overview

The status overview enables authorised users to view the status in real-time. Any deadline deviations are shown in order to be able to contact the relevant users immediately. All relevant functions for the process management are combined in the status overview.

As a result of the close co-ordination between software developers and users, ontram is equipped with an intuitively understandable and task-oriented user interface.

Expensive product training is not necessary. As a rule, user training sessions are offered via telephone. The provided information material describes the key functions and offers assistance with daily activities.
