Andrä AG Bases the New ontram on Java
The new version of the translation management solution ontram now even more user-friendly
Berlin, August 06, 2010 – Andrä AG is basing its Online Translation Management Framework ontram on new technology. In the course of switching from Perl to Java EE (Enterprise Edition), the tools for administration and configuration have been optimized and the interfaces for integration to external systems expanded. What is more, the new version ontram+ is also ready for implementation in cloud-computing environments.
ontram+ is a software package for professional translation management. The web-based solution implements translation processes, including the associated coordination and correction processes - which often present a major organizational challenge. By providing a configurable workflow engine, ontram helps to map these coordination processes and optimize them for the needs of the individual customer.
"Switching from Perl to Java EE as the technological platform has increased performance and scalability and simplified integration into our existing IT infrastructures," explains Director Sven Christian Andrä, relating the significant advantages of the new version. The change has also made it easier to develop new plug-ins for standard applications. In developing the new version Andrä AG took user feedback into consideration to make the modules for administration and the configuration of workflows more user-friendly. ontram is already deployed by numerous international customers like CLAAS, Metabo and Travian Games.
ontram+ processes not only brochures, office and web file formates, but is also equipped with direct interfaces for common business applications like ERP, CMS, LMS, PIM and authoring systems. The software is available in three different price models. The costs for use in individual projects range from 1,000 euros, to a rent model with monthly costs starting at 2,000 euros, up to licenses purchased from a price of 25,000 euros.
ontram's web-based approach provides for short implementation times and ensures that all users are always able to access identical applications and contents. Thanks to the simple operation of the system no expensive and time-intensive training is necessary. For translation work, documents are filtered during import to separate contents from layout to allow for media-neutral processing. The software integrates a spell check for more than 30 languages as well as a terminology function that ensures the consistent rendering of specialized terms, brand names and fixed expressions. During the translation process the user can view the current state of processing in the final layout in order to prevent unnecessary correction loops.
