Efficient translation processes with ontram and TYPO3
Prokom 2009: Andrä AG presents TYPO3 link with Preview function
Berlin, 09.02.2009 - At Prokom in Mainz, from 17th to 18th February (Stand A24), Andrä AG presents the integration of its web-based Translation Management System ontram with TYPO3. The sole supplier at present, Andrä AG can now offer a fully automatic data exchange with the proven Open Source Content Management System (CMS) and an interactive Preview in the final layout.
TYPO3 has now become established as a CMS for the production of comprehensive, multilingual web content. Previously the underlying translation processes were all carried out in the back-end: either by translators working directly in the CMS or by the manual exchange of XML files without reference to the web page layout. The refinement of a TYPO3 extension now allows a direct link to ontram, so that translation processes can be structured more efficiently, economically and transparently.
The areas to be translated are selected in TYPO3 and transmitted directly to ontram where a translation job is produced from the content. After comparison with content already present in the Translation Memory, the selected texts are translated and adapted to the market conditions. Throughout the translation and adaptation process, everyone involved in the workflow can generate a preview of the current text state at any time.
By activating the preview function, data are automatically transferred to a preview sector on the TYPO3 server and can be viewed there - in the final layout with all navigation functions. This ensures slimmed-down processes as idle times are shortened and correction loops reduced. A back-link, also recently developed, offers the facility of switching back from the preview to the corresponding point in the translation job.
